He Ain’t Heavy?

May 28, 2022

Most of us (the old ones at least) remember the Hollies’ song “He Ain’t Heavy.” It still stands as a great musical metaphor for what should be the good in all of us. But is it really? Let’s flash forward 40 years or so….

“His weight will not encumber me….” Really? Have you been to a Walmart lately? Good God, most of the folks need a forklift to port them up and own the aisles to shop there.

I must admit that I still love this song. It brings tears to my eyes for what might have been in a world where everyone would actually give a damn. But alas, “His weight WILL encumber me.” America, we need to go on that crash diet soon! Even the most svelte of us are today simply fat!

“The road is long, with many a winding turn….” Yes, it is but let’s not take the next exit for McDonald’s for God’s sake!

I just realized that the little man in the changes spelled words box, switched my house of “Ill repute” to the madame to the,
house of “ill dispute “. Kind of takes its humor from being the madame of a house of questionable repute to one of not “getting along”, which taken in context, was quite different! LOL

  2. The post wasn’t about overweight people – It was about the American diet as presented by markets. It is unhealthy – PERIOD!
