Engagement is an interesting word with so many meanings. Consider the following:

inˈɡājmənt, enˈɡājmənt/
noun: engagement; plural noun: engagements

1. A formal agreement to get married: “A good long engagement to give you time to be sure.”

2. An arrangement to do something or go somewhere at a fixed time: “A dinner engagement.”

3. The action of engaging or being engaged. “Britain’s continued engagement in open trading”

4. A fight or battle between armed forces: “The first engagement of the war.”

5. Participation.

Today, we use this word a lot to describe our involvement with social media. Our collective engagement is what makes social media work. Without this active input and participation, all social media would surely vanish in a day. People, their ideas and the engagement of all of us are what make social media work.

I write this blog and publish its posts every Monday and Friday. The subjects are varied and appeal to a wide range of readers. If there is a theme to it all, it is engagement. I seek your engagement and that of others. I would love to see your input here on the various topics that are covered. If you have something to say, don’t be shy. Be engaging!
