It’s A Family Thing

I am sure that at least some of you have tired of my musical themed banterings. Four decades as a songwriter will do that to a person. But okay, excuses aside, let’s switch gears a little and talk about something we all have in common: mothers and fathers.

Over the years, I have heard hundreds of stories about parents from my friends. The commonality is that all of these fine people had strong memories, both good and bad, of their parents. I have never heard, “I don’t remember anything about them!” One friend told me that her father “didn’t die soon enough” so I figured she wasn’t a big fan of her father. More often, my friends have recounted that their parents were great people, great teachers but that perhaps they didn’t get to know their parents as individuals as they might have liked.
