Tuscany’s Hidden Secret
I was speaking to a friend about Tuscany this evening and this post came to mind – Enjoy!
When most Americans visit Tuscany, they head for Fiorenza (Florence) straight as an arrow. The city is indeed marvelous and the museums there are of a world-class order. History abounds from every back alleyway as well. It is one of Italy’s many concentrated culture points. It is definitely worth visiting.
However, just a mere 74 kilometers away is another city that is rarely visited by tourists. It is equally impressive. Its name is Volterra. The town was at first a Neolithic settlement and an important Etruscan center. The site is believed to have been continuously inhabited as a city since at least the end of the 8th century BC.
